How much does rug washing cost?

A complete guide for long island homeowners

Rug washing is, without question, the best way to properly clean and maintain an area rug. Unlike steam cleaning, which only treats the surface, true rug washing fully submerges your rug in water and uses a cleaning solution formulated for your rug’s specific fibers. Every rug is scrubbed, rinsed, and squeegeed so dirt, dust, and for our pet owners, urine and odor are completely flushed out. Think of it as giving your rug a real bath, not just a surface wipe.

Before we wash any rug, we perform a full inspection, including a colorfast test if the rug is at risk for bleeding or crocking. If a rug is at risk of dye bleeding, we always call you first and discuss the safest deep-cleaning alternatives we offer here at Long Island’s Favorite Rug Spa. Every rug is different, and we clean them based on what is safest for the fibers.

Our Rug Washing Process (What You’re Paying For)

After inspection, your rug moves into our multi-step cleaning process:

1. Dusting to remove dry soil and allergens

2. Full submersion wash using a fiber-safe solution

3. Gentle scrubbing for a deep clean

4. Complete rinse to remove soil and cleaning agents

5. Water extraction using a flat squeegee or wand

6. Centrifuge drying at up to 10,000 RPM

7. Final drying in our climate-controlled room

8. Post-wash dusting to remove any crystallized residue

When your rug comes out of the centrifuge, it is already 95% dry and completely free of soap. Afterward, it hangs in our low humidity drying room until fully dry. Steam cleaning inside a home cannot accomplish this level of cleaning. Steam cleaning leaves behind detergent residue deep in the fibers, and those residues attract dirt. Our soaps are formulated to repel dirt and crystallize when dry so your rug can be dusted again before returning home.

This is why professional rug washing is the gold standard for long-term rug care.

Pet Urine and Odor Treatment

We all love our pets, but unfortunately, they do not always love our rugs. Pet urine is one of the most common problems we see, and it is something we specialize in. We guarantee 100% odor removal for any rug cleaned at our facility.

Our pet treatment:

• breaks down urine crystals

• eliminates odors instead of masking them

• penetrates deep into the rug

• is applied before washing to give it proper dwell time

• ensures all urine is flushed out during the wash

Pet treatment cost:

+$0.50 per square foot

This ensures your rug is not only clean but also free of odor-causing contaminants.

Rug Padding Pricing

If you need new padding, we offer several options.

$1.25–$2.50 per square foot

Our pet-proof padding prevents urine from reaching your floors and can be washed and reused for the life of the rug. We also offer standard padding options including non-skid padding.

Fiber Protection (PFAS-Free)

Many big-brand protectants contain PFAS, sometimes called “forever chemicals,” which do not break down and can pose health concerns.

Our protectant, Luxe Fabric Protector, is 100% PFAS-free and extremely effective at preventing stains.

We are one of the only authorized carriers in the United States and the only provider on Long Island.
